Company History
In 1982, Brendan and Greg Feeney began working in the utility construction industry in Boston, Massachusetts after emigrating from County Sligo, Ireland. By 1986, they had purchased their first backhoe and dump truck and began work as a subcontractor for a prominent utility contractor.
Brendan and Greg incorporated Feeney Brothers Excavation Corporation (“FBEC”) in 1988. By 1990, FBEC employed 3 full crews and had won its first direct contract with Boston Gas (now National Grid). After seven years of continual growth, FBEC had 12 full crews and purchased its first office in the Savin Hill neighborhood of Dorchester, Massachusetts. FBEC continued to grow and by 2002, FBEC had 100 employees and serviced areas spanning the entire southeast region of New England.
In 2012, FBEC converted to a limited liability company, Feeney Brothers Excavation, LLC (“FBE, LLC”) and partnered with CAI, a private equity firm based in Vancouver, Canada and New York, New York. FBE, LLC also moved into its current offices in the Fields Corner neighborhood of Dorchester. Today, FBE, LLC has over 400 employees and operations throughout Massachusetts and New York while maintaining its core commitment to safety and quality services
