Flatiron is a leading transportation and infrastructure contractor in North America.
With an annual construction volume of more than $1 billion, Flatiron develops innovative solutions to build roads, bridges, highways, rail transit, runways, dams, water treatment and storage facilities, and other projects for both public and private clients. Flatiron delivers projects through a variety of contracting methods, including design-build and public private partnerships.
Delivering successful projects across North America, Flatiron is consistently ranked in the top 50 contractors, the top 10 bridge contractors and the top 10 highway contractors by Engineering News-Record.
Founded in 1947, Flatiron has grown geographically over the years and now employs more than 2,500 people in with operations across the U.S. and Canada. Flatiron is a subsidiary of German-based HOCHTIEF, one of the world's largest international construction companies.
Company History
Named after the unique rock formations found near Boulder, Colo., Flatiron was founded in 1947 as a materials company. In the 1980s the company secured a series of contracts along Interstate 70 through the Glenwood Canyon Corridor, Colorado's most scenic stretch of interstate. Flatiron was recognized for its work on I-70 with awards that catapulted the company into national prominence.
With its reputation secured, Flatiron expanded into new markets in the U.S. in the years that followed. Flatiron opened regional offices in California in the 1990s, and has since opened additional offices across the North America. Flatiron now has more than 2,500 employees and has completed projects in every region of the United States.
