Company Overview
The Richland County Recreation Commission was created by an act of the South Carolina legislature in 1960. The Commission’s Mission and Vision are direct, yet very passionate about improving quality of life of people and adding value to communities.

Dedicated to enriching lives and connecting communities through diverse recreational opportunities.
Vision:
To be recognized as a leader in park management and the delivery of quality recreation programs in order to better promote health and improve the quality of life in Richland County.
Company History
Over the years, the Richland County Recreation Commission has been awarded many honors and been recognized for excellence. RCRC has been named several times as a finalist for the National Recreation and Park Association’s (NRPA) Gold Medal Award of Excellence. RCRC was also named South Carolina Recreation and Park Association’s 2008 Agency of the Year.
In October 2006, RCRC became the first and only recreation agency in the state of South Carolina to become accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Recreation and Park Agencies (CAPRA). Through compliance with the standards of excellence, CAPRA accreditation assures policy makers, agency staff, the general public and tax payers that an accredited park and recreation agency has been independently evaluated against established benchmarks as delivering a high level of quality.
